Moving Checklist

Often the most difficult step in moving homes is to make the actual decision to move. From there is becomes a step-by-step process:

If selling...

  • Ascertain a price guide for your current home
  • Choose the real estate agent that suits you
  • Prepare your home for market
  • Select your conveyancing solicitor: they will ensure that the legalities of buying and selling, transfers of monies, loan settlement, etc. are attended to in a timely manner and in accordance with the law
  • Progress through the real estate sales process

If renting...

  • Notify your landlord or property agent, in writing, of you intention to vacate in accordance with the terms of your lease
  • Arrange for a property inspection - complete a condition report - attend to any items noted
  • Ensure you leave the property in the state you had entered it, in order to recoup your bond

Whilst...

  • Taking the opportunity to cull, cull, cull ! Garage sales, online advertising (e.g. Gumtree, Facebook Marketplace, etc.), donation to the various charities, etc. are all great means of culling
  • This is a wonderful opportunity to truly assess the must haves against the "keep - just in case" items
  • It is amazing how good it feels to clear all that no longer serves you...

6-8 weeks before the move...

Now that your home is sold or notice has been given to your landlord, and the settlement date is set, there are many tasks to complete. The staff at Clifton Waters Village have compiled the following checklists which they hope may guide you through the moving process:

EMPTY THE PANTRY - discard items out of date, and pack all non-daily non-perishables

Continue culling and selling all that is no longer needed

1-2 weeks before the move...
